Project summary

This extraordinary 20,000-square-foot custom residence is located on the exclusive Star Island in Miami, Florida. The project exemplified a unique blend of historical preservation and cutting-edge modern design. While employed by another structural engineering firm, I had the privilege of serving as a key member of the project team. The scope began with the delicate relocation of an existing historic home on the property. This process required the engineering and construction of a brand-new foundation system at the front of the lot, designed specifically to receive the preserved structure. The existing home was carefully lifted, placed on mobile supports, and rolled into its new position to remain intact and structurally sound. The rear of the property was then developed into a sprawling modern mansion. With luxury features such as a private movie theater, expansive open spaces, and a rooftop pool, this residence pushed the limits of both architectural creativity and structural innovation. It remains one of the most ambitious and sophisticated homes I’ve had the opportunity to work on—designed for those who live on the world’s most exclusive stage.
